The owners of the new development in Paattisinen, Turku, Julius and Emilia Heikkil\u00e4, initially considered buying a ready-made house, but ultimately decided to build it themselves so that they could make sure that they could fulfill the wishes of their family of three and get a unique look from the end result. <\/span><\/p>\n

Heikkil\u00e4 wanted to create a dream home for his family that would respect nature and offer them a peaceful environment for year-round living. The choice was Kastelli’s ready-to-move-in detached house, which was located on a forest plot amidst rocks. An important goal for the family throughout the project was to preserve the surrounding nature as untouched as possible. The construction project started in 2019, and although they had to wait a long time for a building permit, the family was finally able to move into their new home in July 2022. <\/span><\/p>\n

In terms of building services, the electricity grid and water came from the municipality, but they had to arrange the sewage system themselves. It was important for them to choose an environmentally friendly and reliable sewage system. After comparing different options, the Heikkil\u00e4s decided on dual sewage, where toilet waste goes into a fixed closed tank and other waste goes into the Vestelli Biopurifier 3 greywater purifier. “The decision was most influenced by Vestelli’s simple technology and the fewest parts that can break down,” describes Heikkil\u00e4. <\/span><\/p>\n

The installation of the bio-purifier was the responsibility of the ground contractor, and it required a little excavation to install the purifier in the desired location. At first, Heikkil\u00e4 admits that he was a little worried, as the contractor had no previous experience installing a similar purifier. \u201cThe bio-purifier has proven to be a smart and reliable solution. The purifier also has a stylish appearance and is easy to maintain,\u201d says Heikkil\u00e4 when asked about his experience with it over the past year.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a final tip, Heikkil\u00e4 encourages other builders to stick to their own goals and carefully map out all the costs in their projects. In his experience, thorough planning and competitive bidding helped to avoid surprises and find the best solutions. <\/span><\/p>\n
