Taloussanomat interviewed Vestell’s CEO Joona Linna and the Ministry of the Environment’s consulting official Ari Kangas about wastewater legislation.

The new wastewater management regulations have been streamlined to only apply to environmentally important coastal and groundwater areas, and previously controversial sites, such as dryland granny cottages, have now been left alone.

“Both Linna and Kangas estimate that the attitudes of property owners have changed. Linna recalls that at one time the legal change was justified by the Baltic Sea theme, which may have seemed distant in Kajaani, for example. Now it is understood that it is about protecting the local beach and well.”
