Interior design, construction and nature are seamlessly united in the new Honka Lux collection – Honka Construction offers a more holistic perspective for leisure builders

The new Honka Lux log villas are named after light. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in natural light from morning to evening, and the modern Scandinavian architecture blends into the surrounding landscape. Unlike house design in general, the Honka Lux collection has been created holistically and from the inside out: The starting point is three advanced interior design styles. You can choose a well-thought-out interior design for your villa, or get inspired and pick out the materials and furniture that suit you. Another new feature is the operating model, where the benefits of the interior design partners are passed on to the villa buyer themselves.

“Honkarakenne represents a new way of thinking,” says designer Timo Äkräs. He has designed the Honka villa collection, which includes not only the house model but also the interior. “Normally, an architect draws the outer shell and doesn’t think about what goes inside, and later the interior designer designs the interior. I myself started the other way around.” The interior design choices stem from a strong connection to nature, down to the details.

Three high-quality interior design packages

“The collection is based on the idea that it has colors and materials that are found in nature. I don’t think white plasterboard fits in with that,” says the designer. In the clear-cut Modern Wood interior design concept, real wood and dark oak tones extend the space from the inside out. The light Boho style is based on natural materials and plays with bohemian details. On top of the timeless and adaptable base, the atmosphere is created with interior design products, such as special lamps and relaxed rattan furniture. In the Industrial interior design ensemble, natural-colored log walls are paired with, for example, a slightly shimmering concrete floor. For the interior, Äkräs chose warm and natural surfaces, such as worn leather.

Considerate interior design styles help the builder choose colors, materials and furniture. Äkräs has compiled an interior design catalog of materials and products, which allows the buyer of a Honka Lux villa to purchase the interior design they want directly from the partners. This way, the builder can utilize the benefits of the collaboration themselves. “Lux” also refers to quality: Äkräs considers it important that the catalog contains only high-quality products. Honka Lux interior design partners include Laatupaneile, Pukkila, Puustelli, SBL and Timberwise. In construction, the partners are high-quality domestic service providers such as Perustava for foundations and Vestelli for wastewater solutions.

The comprehensive concept of the Honka Lux collection is particularly suitable for builders who value the visual appearance of a building and the stylistically perfect interior design, says Anne Mäkinen, Chief Architect at Honka Construction. “The level of demands on leisure construction has clearly risen. Leisure homes are increasingly becoming second homes, where people want to invest in home decoration and the well-being it brings. In addition, people now also work remotely in leisure homes. The three different interior design options of Honka Lux concretely show the impact of different styles in the same space,” she says.

Vitality from natural light

In each of the three villas in the collection, at least one facade is made up of windows. Natural light, the cycle of the day and the changes of the seasons are part of the living experience. You can choose the Honka Lux that best suits your environment, either in an I-, L- or U-shape. The collection also includes a sauna. There are two roof models, a hipped roof and a hipped roof.

The designer’s own Honka Lux is being built in Western Finland. “I couldn’t find a base I liked from log house manufacturers, so I contacted Honka and drew it myself. An I-model villa is now being built on our seaside plot,” says Timo Äkräs.

Äkräs, who has had a long career as an entrepreneur in the restaurant industry, has designed several restaurant buildings and interiors and has fulfilled his youthful dream of becoming an architect alongside his main job. His work emphasizes light and modern architecture with well-considered floor plans. The log house he designed won the Best House vote at the Laukaa Housing Fair in 2003, and the modern log cabin, praised for its brightness, won the Best Cottage award at the Hartola Holiday Home Fair in 2004.

Demand for holiday homes is growing – new models during the winter

Corona has changed the everyday lives of Finns and increased the demand for holiday homes. In addition to luxurious log villas, Honka’s diverse collection includes modern holiday log houses and classic log cabins as well as traditional, cost-effective hidden cabins. In addition to healthy Finnish logs, the models are united by the core of a log home, the resident’s connection to nature. The holiday collection will expand even further this winter.
