Interior architect Vertti Kivi decided on Vestell’s Bio Purifier 4 product, Kirkkonummi

Interior architect Vertti Kivi had a holiday home built on an island off the coast of Kirkkonummi. The island is about 80 metres from the shore and he ended up buying the island by chance. “We weren’t looking for the island, but we were in the neighbouring village and thought it looked like a nice place. A year later we decided to buy the place and stay here,” says Kivi with satisfaction.

Even though it’s an island destination, Kivi wanted a toilet system that was as practical as possible and resembled a traditional water toilet. “We ended up with two low-pressure toilets because they are very similar to a normal toilet and the tank only needs to be emptied once a year.”

There are three different buildings on the plot: the main building, a guest house and a sauna. Each building has its own water point, from which all grey water is directed to Vestell’s Biopurifier 4 grey water purifier.

For Vertti Kivi, ease of maintenance and infrequent emptying of the tanks were extremely important when choosing the equipment. “We wanted an easy experience in every way, and we didn’t want to have to empty the tank every week. It wouldn’t do any good. This was our goal and then we set out to investigate what would be the best solution for this island,” Kivi sums up.

Wassis was responsible for the wastewater design of the site. “Wassis provided the knowledge, installation service and products, so we moved forward from there.”

Kivi spends a lot of time at his holiday home with his family and friends. The family consists of five people, plus a dog and a bunny. “At the moment, this is 100 percent occupied, as you can probably imagine,” laughs Kivi. “Right now, it’s pretty good to be here. Friends and guests come here anyway. This is a place for being together and for friendship.”

Finally, Kivi advises those interested in a similar type of project to focus on ease and carefreeness. “It’s not worth taking on the stress of wastewater, but taking care of things immediately so that they work without constant maintenance.”
